Under the theme <em>\u201cShaping the future of equitable and sustainable planetary health\u201d<\/em>, <strong>several topics were addressed, from planetary health to health systems, infectious diseases, neglected tropical diseases, non-communicable diseases, mental health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and child and adolescent health.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BLMs4BU Consortium<\/a> organised an insightful workshop on<em> \u201cCurrent and future landscape on Buruli ulcer and leprosy treatment\u201d<\/em> that was actively <strong>chaired by Israel Cruz<\/strong> (Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain), member of the WHO Diagnostic Technical Advisory Group for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and member of the BLMs4BU Consortium.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto1_IC-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-471\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto1_IC-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto1_IC-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto1_IC-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto1_IC-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto1_IC-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto1_IC-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The <strong>coordinator of the BLMs4BU Consortium, Santiago Ram\u00f3n Garc\u00eda<\/strong> (University of Zaragoza\/ARAID Foundation, Spain) presented the value of rifampicin to improve Buruli ulcer treatment, as well as the three current clinical trials aiming to improve this disease treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto2_SRG-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-469\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto2_SRG-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto2_SRG-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto2_SRG-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto2_SRG-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto2_SRG-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto2_SRG-scaled.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Gerd Pluschke<\/strong> (Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Switzerland) explained the development and current updates in Telacebec and its potential to treat Buruli ulcer. However, <strong>particular issues to reach an efficient treatment need to be addressed<\/strong>, including the timing, dosing, safety and possible combinations with other drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto3_GP-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto3_GP-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto3_GP-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto3_GP-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto3_GP-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto3_GP-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/blms4bu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foto3_GP-scaled.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Christian Johnson<\/strong> (Fondation Raoul Follereau, France; Universit\u00e9 Abomey-Calavi, Benin), and a principal investigator of the BLMs4BU project, presented, on behalf of Mamoudou Kodio (H\u00f4pital de Dermatologie de Bamako, Mali) and the bedaquiline research team the promising preliminary results from the first pilot trial of the treatment of multibacillary leprosy with bedaquiline in Mali. This trial combines <strong>two months treatment with bedaquiline with WHO-recommended multidrug therapy<\/strong>. Dr. Johnson also showed the benefits of integrating skin NTDs screening and management, showing specific cases from Benin and C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure
